In continuation of ongoing assistance from the Indian Government to fight COVID-19, the High Commission yesterday handed over a consignment of medical gloves to Sri Lanka. On April 7 and 8, India gifted 13 tonnes of essential life-saving medicines to Sri Lanka.

During the SAARC leaders’ video conference on March 15, it was conveyed that India would offer online training capsules for emergency response teams of neighbouring countries to assist in their efforts to deal with COVID-19.
“Accordingly, the Indian External Affairs Ministry is conducting e-ITEC short-training live webinars for healthcare professionals on COVID-19 management strategies and related aspects,” a press release from the Indian High  Commission in Colombo said.

“The first such webinar themed ‘COVID-19 Pandemic: Prevention and Management Guidelines for Healthcare Professionals’ was organised from April 17 to 21 at All India Institutes of Medical Sciences in Raipur, where 11 medical officers attached to the Sri Lankan Health Ministry took part. The second online ITEC course titled ‘Managing COVID-19 Pandemic: Experience and Best Practices of India’ is being conducted by the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh from April 27 to May 1. More such courses will be organised in coming days. At this time of crisis, India will continue to share its resources and expertise with its friends and partners,” it further stated.
