UNP Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa yesterday told media soon after he was officially named as the presidential candidate of the UNP-led alliance that he might contest under the Swan symbol.
“I will have to contest under a common symbol as I am contesting from an alliance and it could be the Swan symbol as per the discussions we have had with the members of the UNF alliance,” Mr. Premadasa said.
Meanwhile, UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said the name of the alliance and the symbol will be finalized later.
Daily Mirror also reliably learns that the alliance will be formed early next month before the nomination date.
