The Colombo High Court yesterday recalled the warrant issued on Tuesday (09) against former MP Hirunika Premachandra for not appearing in Court over the case in which she is accused of abducting a youth in 2015.

Ms. Premachandra surrendered to Court on a motion filed by her instructing Attorney-at-law Abimani Rajni.

The Counsel producing her in Court pleaded to grant bail to her and told Judge Amal Ranaraja that her client had failed to appear before Court since she was breast feeding her infant child when the case was called on Tuesday. Therefore the councillor pleaded Court to consider that and release Ms. Premachandra on bail.   High Court Judge Amal Ranaraja while releasing Ms. Hirunika on the former bail conditions fixed the trial for June 17.

Ms. Premachandra is alleged to have involvement in the abduction of a youth using a defender in 2015 at Dematagoda Colombo.

In this case a schoolboy and seven others suspects pleaded guilty for their involvement in the abduction and were given two years imprisonment suspended for 12 years.
