Coastal inundation by heavy showers and high winds are expected in the coming days, the Department of Meteorology forecast yesterday.
“Several spells of showers will occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and Central provinces. Several spells of light showers may occur in North-Western province. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Uva province and in Batticaloa and Ampara districts in the coming days,” the forecast said.
The department also forecast heavy showers or thundershowers and sudden roughness, associated with sudden increase of wind speed (up to 70-80 kmph) in the deep sea areas.
