The prevailing rains in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western and Southern Provinces is expected to increase further in the next few days, the Department of Meteorology said yesterday.
Accordingly showers exceeding 100mm are expected at some places during the coming days.
Meanwhile, heavy rain of up to 100mm were reported in several areas yesterday with 107mm of rain recorded at Deraniyagala, 101.5mm at Kiriella, 100mm at Halwathura in the Kalutara District, 83mm at Anuradhapura, 82.5mm at Akkaraipattu in the Ampara District and 81mm at Watawala in the Nuwara Eliya District.
