The number of employees who could work at state and private institutions and factories island-wide, should be decided on the recommendation of the health officials, police said yesterday.

Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the work force at state and private places could be employed under conditions imposed by the regional health officers.

Commenting that Sri Lanka has been designated as an Infectious Disease Area, the DIG said that operations at work places should be conducted on a shift system wherever possible.

The employer or person in charge of any institution or work place should ensure that the body temperature of every person is checked before they enter the institution or the workplace. They should also provide adequate hand washing facilities with soap or sanitizer and ensure that every person who enters such institutions wash their hands. All personnel should wear face masks and maintain the required social distancing.
