Referring to a controversial video clip which was running in the social media about himself and former MP Kavinda Jayawardena, former MP Harin Fernando yesterday said he will lodge a complaint with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) shortly against the persons who are behind it.

Mr. Fernando told a news conference that he will lodge a complaint on the matter with the IGP against the person who is behind it and those who made it a news item. “The person who is behind it is one who is out to destroy Sri Lanka’s culture. I will lodge a complaint with the IGP against him and against those who had made this gossip into a news item” he said.    “The video clip is a fake one which had been originally done in India and a manipulated one. We were not involved in it,” he added.

Meanwhile, Dr. Jayawardena who issued a statement on it said he will take legal action against everyone involved in making the clip and uploading it on social media. “I will take maximum legal action against everyone involved in it,” he said in the statement.

He said there is no truth in the report which said he has received death threats. “Some interested parties are trying to gain political mileage out of it.”
