GCE O/Ls: 10,346 students passed; 74% high-flyers

Results of the 2019 GCE O/L examination were released yesterday with a total of 10,346 students passed and 73.84 per cent ‘9A’ passes, Examinations Commissioner General B. Sanath Pujitha said.  

“A total of 717,246 applicants were received for the examination out of which 556, 256 sat. The students who passed in mathematics stand at 66.82 per cent,” he said. 


The results were released last evening to the official website of the Examinations Department. However, results of all private and school candidates could be obtained through the department’s website http://www.doenets.lk or http://www.results.exams.gov.lk or by contacting the department via hotline 1911 or school examinations organising branch via 0112784208 / 0112784537 / 0113188350 / 0113140314 or fax 0112784422. 


“School principals as well as zonal and provincial directors will be able to view O/L results through this website for the first time in Sri Lankan history. They do not need to come to the Examinations Department to collect the results. Principals and zonal and provincial directors will be provided with usernames and passwords to log on to the website,” he said. 


The GCE O/L examination was held from December 2 to 12 at 4,989 centres and 542 coordinating centres countrywide.
