Four families who had come into contact with an Indian in Jaffna have been sent for self-quarantine yesterday after the Indian media reported that the Indian national was found positive for Covid-19 upon his return to India from Jaffna.

Director of Jaffna Teaching Hospital Dr. T. Sathyamoorthy said the Indian had arrived in Sri Lanka in last February for the sale of textile and gone back to India on a ship in March through the Indian High Commission.
Dr. Sathyamoorthy said two families were found from Inuvil while another family was found from Elalai.
“There is a minimum possibility for a person to be infected with Covid-19 in Sri Lanka at this juncture, where spread of Covid-19 has been contained to a satisfactory degree in the island,”Dr. Sathyamoorthy added.
