First SL Doctor dies of Covid-19

 The death of the first Sri Lankan doctor due to Covid-19 infection was reported from the Karapitiya Hospital yesterday.  

 The deceased has been identified as Gayan Danthanarayana, 32, a resident of Hinkanda, Ragama.  He was admitted to the IDH in Colombo due to COVID-19 infection while working at the Ragama Hospital.   He was later admitted to the Karapitiya Hospital on the 27th and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit for treatment due to COVID pneumonia. 

 


Died because of Corona Pneumonia: JMO

Dr Danthanarayana died due to Corona Pneumonia exacerbated by Diabetes and High Blood Pressure that he had been suffering for a long time, JMO Dr Samadhi Dandeniyaarachchi of the Ruhunu University who did the post mortem examination said yesterday.

it has been revealed that the death of late Dr Danthanarayana was due to Corona Pneumonia exacerbated by Diabetes and High Blood Pressure that he had been suffering for a long time.  The cremation of the body was to be held yesterday 02 evening at the Dadella Cemetery as informed by the Judicial Medical Unit.  The wife of late Dr Danthanarayana who is presently under quarantine after being found positive for Covid-19 had visited the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital strictly observing health guidelines and identified the body of her husband and after paying her last respects had agreed for the cremation, the Inquirer into Sudden Deaths A.R. M. Nasim said.
