At least 30 police officers including the Kollupitiya Police OIC, who were on duty near the US embassy in Colombo to disperse the Frontline Socialist Party (FSP) protesters, have been sent for quarantine, police said.

They said the officers were sent for Attidiya Quarantine Centre operated by the Sri Lanka Police.
Police dispersed several activists of the FSP when they attempted to stage a protest outside the US Embassy in Kollupitiya and at the Town Hall in Colombo against the killing of African-American George Floyd.
Police Spokesman Jaliya Senaratna said the officers who had not maintained social distancing while trying to disperse the protesters were directed for quarantine under the instructions of health authorities.

At least 53 FSP members including Frontline Socialist Party Politburo members Duminda Nagamuwa and Kumar Gunaratnam were arrested for violating a court order issued against the demonstration.
