The Presidential Commission which probed the Easter Sunday attacks has not  been able to uncover anything new, SJB MP Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka  said yesterday.

Speaking  during the debate on the Presidential Commission which probed the  Easter Sunday attacks in Parliament there is no difference between the Presidential Commission and the Parliamentary Select Committee.

“I  made my own report on the Easter Sunday attacks disassociating myself  from the Parliamentary select committee though I was a member of it and I  table by own report in the House today,” he said.  “I cannot agree with the Presidential Commission’s decision to hold  former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando, as his post is merely an  administration job. Defence Secretary has no power to make decisions  pertaining to military operations. Also I don’t blame the former IGP as  they cannot carry out even security checks without the orders from the  Defence Minister,” he added.
