Colombo’s Archbishop Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith yesterday said he will be compelled to call for an international probe by an international court on the Easter Sunday attacks if justice is not meted out to victims and their families.
Cardinal Ranjith told a news conference that he was not satisfied by the probes carried out by some including CID. “I hope that I will not have to seek the assistance of any international institutions but will be compelled to call for such assistance if justice is not meted out to us. Those who were affected by the attack expect some kind of redress from me. I also believe that the government will not let the Easter Sunday attack turn out to be another international issue as it has already faced with some international issues in Geneva “he said. The Archbishop said he would take some action soon locally as well. “I will announce this move later as it will be a judicial matter,” the Cardinal said. He stressed the need for uncovering as to who was behind the attack while action should be taken against those who had neglected prior warnings about the attack.
