Drug lord ‘Kimbula Ela Guna’, his son arrested in Chennai

 A large scale drug dealer cum underworld gangster Sinnaiah Gunasekaran alias ‘Kimbula Ela Guna’ and his son ‘Bumba’have been arrested in Chennai, India, Public Security Minister Sarath Weerasekara said. 

 Interpol and the Indian Police arrested the suspects according to a red notice issued by the Sri Lanka Police.  


 Indian Media reported that the Tamil Nadu “Q” branch police arrested Kimbula Ela Guna, who had links with the LTTE, in the Chennai Airport on Sunday night.    It was reported that 45-year-old Guna alias Gunasekaran, was about to board a flight to New Delhi.  


 Based on Guna’s confession, the Central Crime Branch Police arrested four others, including his son Kennedy alias Bumba, from a hideout in the city on Monday.   Other arrested men had been identified as Dileepan, Vigneshwara Perumal and Prabhakaran. The five men have been locked up in the Chengalpattu sub-jail.     According to the reports, Guna was nabbed after the arrest of his associate Alaga Perumaga Sunil Gamini alias Fonseka from a hideout in Bengaluru in October last year. Kimbula Ela Guna was one of those who had taken part in the foiled attack on former President Chandrika Kumaratunga in 1999. Thereafter, he fled Sri Lanka and had been living in Tamil Nadu with fake documents.
