The health authorities have commenced a probe to investigate the sudden deaths of two individuals from Gampaha, who were found to have been vaccinated two days ago, and to determine whether their deaths have any link to the vaccination.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health is to investigate as to whether it could be attributed to the vaccine or the cause of deaths were due to other reason, the health sources said.

Deputy Director-General of Health Services Dr Hemantha Herath speaking to Daily Mirror said there is a particular procedure to find out whether there is any connection to the vaccine.
“We are currently investigating as to ascertain these deaths due to the vaccination,” Dr Herath said.

Divulapitiya police said a 57-year-old, who was administered with the vaccine two days ago was pronounced dead yesterday on admission to the District Hospital Divulapitiya.
The deceased has been identified as a resident of Wewagedara. He has been admitted to hospital due to a sudden illness.
