Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy was temporarily closed and security in and around the Maligawa had been tightened following the bomb blasts yesterday, Administrative Secretary of the Maligawa said.
Army Commandos and STF were deployed for the security of the Maligawa and the devotees visiting it. Police and Army had taken steps searched even the trays of the offerings taken to the Maligawa by the devotees.
Iron gates at the entrance of the Dalada Maligawa remained closed.
However, the routine rituals of the Maligawa would be carried out by the service monks, who reside within the Maligawa premises, he said.
