The Attorney General is to file a revision application in the Colombo High Court against yesterday’s bail order by the Chief Magistrate during the inquiry into the alleged offences committed by the former IGP and the defence secretary in connection with the Easter Sunday attacks, sources said.
The Chief Magistrate released former IGP Pujith Jayasundara and former defence secretary Hemasiri Fernando on bail after deciding that the murder charge brought up by the prosecution under Section 296 of the Penal Code could not be maintained when considering the facts before the court.
