Capital Punishment Opinion Poll shows 94.35% in favour

An Opinion Poll conducted at the Enterprise Sri Lanka exhibition held at Walisinghe Harischandra ground in Anuradhapura showed that 94.35 percent of people were in favour of the application of Capital Punishment on drug racketeers and rapists. 

This electronic opinion poll using digital technology, was conducted at the booth put up by the Presidential Secretariat.   


At this poll, where 20,992 persons had participated, 94.35% had voted in favour of the death penalty to be made effective for the above convicts while 5.65%  had indicated otherwise.
