Cancer Treatment Unit of Badulla Hospital closed yesterday

The Cancer Treatment Unit of the Badulla Hospital was closed yesterday when 35 individuals including 13 members of the hospital staff, 22 patients and eight private attendants tested positive for COVID-19 .   

Uva Province Co-ordinator of the Government Medical Officers’ Association and Senior Medical Officer of the Emergency Treatment Unit of the hospital Dr. Palitha Rajapakse said a doctor, two nurses and two minor employees attached to the Cancer Treatment Unit, had tested positive.   He said the members of the staff, the patients and those associated with them were subject to PCR tests when a cancer patient from Ampara who had been discharged after treatment fell sick with Covid-19.   


Dr. Rajapakse said other patients and the entire staff of the Cancer treatment unit would be PCR tested and entry of visitors  to the unit would not be allowed.
