Cabinet Sub-Committee to probe railway employees occupying railway lands

A Cabinet Sub-Committee, headed by Transport Minister Gamini Lokuge was appointed yesterday to investigate the unlawful occupation of lands belonging to the railway authorities, the Transport Ministry said.  

This Cabinet Sub-Committee, which was appointed to look into the possibility of taking necessary action against the illegal squatters, met at the Transport Ministry for the first time yesterday, had identified about 152 railways employees who are still residing illegally on the property which belongs to the railway department. During the meeting, the ministry officials have been advised to submit a report on this matter within a month to the Cabinet Sub-Committee, the Ministry said.
