The Ayurvedic syrup developed by Ayurvedic practitioner Dhammika Bandara of Hettimulla, Kegalla claiming that it would cure COVID- 19 was not officially tested at the Wathupitiwala Base Hospital, the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) said.

GMOA Editor Dr. Haritha Aluthge told the Daily Mirror that the Director of Wathupitiwala Hospital confirmed that no official test had been performed on the syrup.

He said clarifications were required to find out as to what had happened during the purported testing, and whether it was done on personal basis .

“However, basic health practices should be followed until the results of the tests are announced,” he said.
He also requested the people not to rely on such types of uncertified and untested syrups claimed to be medicines.
