The COVID-19 positive rate in the country has increased two-fold compared to the previous month, the Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) said yesterday. GMOA Editor Dr. Haritha Aluthge said the positive rate was recorded at 3% following 100 PCR tests conducted in the country before January.
However, the positive case rate has increased to 6% which shows the country is heading towards a dangerous scenario.
"There is an upward trend in the number of positive cases recorded in the past few days and also outside the Western Province. The danger of spreading and infections in the Western Province has increased three fold than previously recorded," Dr. Aluthge said. However, we have failed to control the spreading of virus to other districts, and we should keep in mind to identify our failures and act fast to control the rapid spreading, Dr. Aluthge added.
