COVID-19 in the past 24 hours - 12 test positive; 36 recover

The Epidemiology Unit said yesterday that in the past 24 hours, 12 people were tested positive to the COVID-19 infection while 36 patients who had recovered were discharged from various hospitals.  

One of the 12 patients was from Jinthupitiya in Kotahena and according to a statement issued by the Government Information Department and Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe, the patient was detected when undergoing quarantine and that it was not a case of community transmission.The Epidemiology Unit said the last patient from the community was reported on April 30. 

 
The Epidemiology Unit’s situation report issued at 10.00 a.m. said 2, 066 confirmed cases of COVID-19 had been reported so far and of them 1,863 had fully recovered with 11 deaths.   


Of the 36 patients, who were the latest to recover, 29 were naval personnel bringing the number of naval personal to recover to 877.   


They were directed to remain under self-quarantine for another 14 days.   
Among the 2, 066 confirmed cases were 805 Sri Lankans who had returned from abroad and 948 locals.
