The number of COVID-19 deaths and infections among people could increase within the next two or three weeks due to their irresponsible behaviour, head of the Public Health Inspectors’ (PHI) Union Upul Rohana yesterday said.

He said the people treat the present situation is safe and believe it has been brought under control.
“People have not restricted their travelling as they did before December last year. Therefore, there could be a major threat in spreading of the virus in the next couple of weeks or so,” he said.

The PHI Union requested the people to restrict their travelling even during the upcoming long weekends and holidays to help prevent the spreading, Upul Rohana added.
