The Colombo Municipal Council has fixed the road cleaning and garbage collection times for 5.30 a.m. and 6.30 a.m. respectively, a CMC official said.
He said the times were fixed on the instructions received by the environmental police and was effective from yesterday.
“We have informed all our employees, who are engaged in garbage collection to report for duty by 6.00 am while employees, who are engaged in road cleaning to report for duty by 5.00 a.m,” the official said.
“The garbage collection was previously carried out fromt 7.30 a.m. and now will be from 6.30 a.m.,” he said. The President has instructed the Police on restructuring the activities related to the safety and the beautification of the environment, followed by a massive operation to protect the environment to be launched soon.
