The Criminal Investigations Department has launched investigations into the fire that erupted at the Supreme Court Complex yesterday, Police Spokesman Ajith Rohana said.

He said the CID would also be assisted by Police Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) to collect scientific evidence.

The CID has summoned experts of the Government Analyst Department to collect relevant data.

The fire was reported at the debris store situated at the basement of the Supreme Court last evening.

The teams of the Fire Brigade and Sri Lanka Air force rushed to the scene. Nine fire trucks were dispatched to the location to douse the fire. The spokesman said the fire was extinguished thereafter.

He also said no documents or registries were damaged in the fire.
