The Constitutional Council (CC) yesterday approved Attorney General Jayantha Jayasuriya’s appointment as Chief Justice, a statement said.
It said the CC had also approved the appointment of Additional Auditor General Chulantha Wickramaratne as Auditor General.
The statement said the two names recommended for appointment would be sent to the President. The CC met yesterday with Speaker Karu Jayasuriya in the Chair.
