The security forces arrested, on suspicion, a 72-year-old businessman who provided an upstair house located on a two-acre land in the Kurunegala area for the activities of the Islamic terrorist group named ‘National Thowheeth Jama’at’.

The terrorist outfit was responsible for Easter Sunday’s bomb attack that killed more than 250 people.

Along with him, the security authorities arrested an ECG officer (Electrocardiogram) attached to the Kurunegala District. The businessman was admitted to the Kurunegala hospital after he developed heart trouble upon arrest.

It is reported that the ECG officer has allowed visitors to see the businessman in hospital without a pass. A complaint has been lodged against this officer. Accordingly, the security authorities arrested him and found out his involvement with the activities of the Thowheeth Jama’at.

The security forces had found several cheque books that had been used for various transactions.

The businessman who had been captured is under medical treatment in the hospital. The ECG officer is under interrogation.
