A 36-year-old man from Chilaw who visited the Colombo International Book Fair at the BMICH on September 23, has tested positive for Covid-19. The man had also been at the Colombo Central Bus Terminal the same day. He has travelled to Nuwara Eliya on September 30, the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak said.

The Minister said that the Department of Ayurveda and the Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation have jointly introduced an immunising drink and a powder for those infected with the COVID-19 virus.

The Minister said all these medicines are manufactured using 100% local herbs and have been named as ‘Sadanga Panaya’ and ‘Suwadharani’ Immunising Drink’’.   The Minister further stated that these drugs will be presented to Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena in Parliament today and will be launched on October 12.   The Minister also pointed out that Western medicine has not yet been able to find a cure for the COVID-19 virus, and therefore those developed countries have suffered a serious setback today.   However, he said that the Ministry of Indigenous Medicine has the ability to produce drugs that can overcome this challenge.
