Had the Yahapalana government fulfilled its responsibilities properly, there would be no necessity to observe Black Sunday in protest of the Easter Sunday attack, Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said yesterday.

Making his remarks during the opposition leader’s mobile programme for engagement with the people in Bundala, he called for a proper probe to find out the real perpetrators behind the attack.

Mr. Premadasa said it is the people’s desire to see a real transparent probe taking place to find out the real perpetrators behind the attacks. “ It is the view of the people that real criminals behind the Easter Sunday attacks are roaming freely at the moment. This is not a story cooked up by me but the view of common people in this country. Therefore a transparent probe has to be conducted,” Mr. Premadasa said,

“The official stand of my party is to subject terrorists and drug dealers to capital punishment. It should be introduced through by enacting a piece of legislation in Parliament.
