During a joint search operation conducted in Kalpitiya on Tuesday, a State bank manager was arrested on charges of being in possession of 61 live bullets.
The live bullets were kept with his licensed 12-bore shotgun.
Police said a person could keep a maximum of 20 live bullets with a licensed weapon but the 55-year-old bank manager had with him 41 extra live bullets. He was handed over to the Kalpitiya Police for further investigations.
Kalpitiya police conducted a joint operation on Tuesday with the assistance of the Army and Air Force.
