Attorney General Dappula de Livera has directed the IGP to arrest all the police officers attached to the Peliyagoda Police who were allegedly involved in the assault on Migara Gunaratne, a final year law student, AG’s Co-ordinating Officer State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne said.
She said the AG also directed the IGP to produce the arrested suspects in the Court, on charges under the Penal Code and the Torture Act.
Several officers attached to the Peliyagoda Police had allegedly assaulted Migara Gunaratne, on February 25.
The victimised student was later identified as the son of former Central Province Governor, President’s Counsel Maithri Gunaratne.
