‘Asi Disi’ Media Scholarship awarding ceremony

‘Asi Disi’ annual Media Scholarship Programme would be held at the Media Ministry this morning under the patronage of the State Minister of Mass Media and  Defence Ruwan Wijewardene and the Mass Media Secretary Sunil Samaraweera. Several Journalists will be awarded scholarships under this programme at the ceremony. Journalists who had completed three year service in recognized electronic and print media institutions on a full-time or part-time basis, as well as freelance journalists, will be entitled to receive scholarships.   


109 journalists would be offered with Post Graduate Courses, Certificate Courses and Diploma Courses conducted by local Universities and government higher education and training institutions under this scholarship scheme. The objective of the project is to encourage and to provide opportunities for journalists to improve their professional skills through training programmes in order to face the challenges of the 21st century.  Rs. 200,000 would be paid as the course fee to follow Graduate and Post Graduate programmes. Rs.100,000 would be given away for journalists for short and long term certificate, Diploma, Higher Diploma courses. Scholarship recipients can enroll to any media related courses in any recognised university, higher education institutions.
