The Jailor of the Negombo Prison Prasad Kalinga Kaluaggala, who was arrested by the CID after he surrendered, was remanded till July 29 by the Negombo Acting Magistrate K.G. Gunadasa.
He had surrendered to the CID on Friday despite being issued an arrest warrant in connection with the investigations into the corruption at the Negombo Prison.
The suspect was remanded after being produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court on Saturday. Presenting the suspect at the Acting Magistrate’s official residence, the CID officials requested that the suspect be remanded at the Boossa Prison as the investigations are not completed. The Magistrate ordered Negombo Superintendent of Prisons to take further action on the suspect and to detain him at the Boossa Prison.
