UNP Gampaha District Leader Arjuna Ranatunga had resigned from his post with immediate effect yesterday.
Mr. Ranatunga in his letter addressed to UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe has said he has decided to resign from the District Leader’s post as he thought it was not proper for the party’s Deputy Leader Ruwan Wijewardene to be under him.
Copies of the letter has been sent to General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Mr. Wijewardene, Assistant Leader Ravi Karunanayake and National Organiser Navin Dissanayake
