JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said yesterday he will testify before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) to investigate allegations of political victimisation today as summoned by the commission.

He told a news conference that they as the JVP was engaged in a continuous struggle against bribery and corruption and that he would make this opportunity a turning point in this struggle. “I have been summoned before the (PCoI) to investigate allegations of political victimisation at 11.30 am today.

We have been engaged in the struggle against bribery and corruption by politicians, some business people with the blessings of those politicians and several officials. We have complained to the CID, Bribery Commission and the FCID against them. We are in the struggle to recover the looted money and punish those who looted public money. We have also discussed this matter in parliament,” he said. He said they were not ready to back away or give up the struggle against bribery and corruption and added that the previous government which came to power in 2015 promising to take action against bribery and corruption did not keep its word but simply followed suit. “If we give up this struggle, who is there to take it forward?,” he asked.
