A very senior member of the Thawheed Jama’ath Organization who had been with it from its inception and a billionaire Gem Merchant had been apprehended from a luxury house in Wattalpola, Panadura.
At the time of the arrest the police took into custody a cache of Rifle Bullets and other equipment. The police had taken into custody 591 bullets, a luxury jeep, Two Passports belonging to outsiders, a large amount of foreign currency notes, a Bank Pass book carrying a balance of Rs 1.9 million and receipts for payment of membership fees.
The suspect had contested under the SLMC for the Panadura Pradeshiya Sabah and lost.
The officers from the PanaduraNorth Police division and STF officers and the army conducted a raid of this house and was able to detect the above hidden therein.
