All-night Pirith chanting at Kataragama Kiri Vehera

A special all night Pirith Chanting is to be held at Kirivehera Kataragama commencing tomorrow and ending at dawn the 
following day.   


It is considered as a rare event with water collected from the origin of the main rivers of the island cleaned and purified is used at the Pirith Chanting.   
It is to invoke blessings on the entire population of Sri Lanka belonging to different faiths. The organizers said that they have taken steps to commence this Pirith chanting at 16 sacred shrines including Sri Pada where the Buddha visited, Nagadeepaya, Kataragama and Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya at 
the same time.   


Accordingly, this Pinkama is scheduled to begin tomorrow at 9.00 pm at Tissamaharama, Sandagiri Seya, Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya, Muthiyanganaya, Mahiyanganaya, Deegawapiya, Diva Guhawa, Ruwanveliseya, Sri Maha Bodhiya, Jethawanaramaya, Thuparamaya, Mirisawetiya, Abhayagiriya, and Mihintale. 

 
 The Pinkama at Kiri Vehera Kataragama is organized on the spiritual guidance of the Chief Sanga Nayaka of Ruhunu Magampaththuwe and Kataragama Kiri Vehera Raja Maha Viharadhipathi Ven. Kobawaka Damminda Nayaka Thera. The necessary guidelines for conducting this Pirith chanting in all the selected shrines had been given by Ven. Thuduwe Pemaloka Thera, a hermit who resides in a Dharmaraja cave in the Sri Pada sacred area. 


The sponsor for the entire Pirith Chanting is by Landed Proprietary Planter Lishan de Silva, the Managing Director Lyon Group Enterprises as stated by the Kiri vehera Dayaka Sabah.   
Mr. de Silva said further that the staff of the Kataragama Kirivehera and the entire staff of the CEB including all officers have offered their services towards the success of this noble act.
