Army Special Forces Camp in Seeduwa was isolated with immediate effect yesterday when one of its Majors was found positive with Covid-19 on Saturday night, whilst his spouse attached to Welisara Navy Base was on maternity leave.

The SF Army Major who had got himself admitted to Gampaha District General Hospital on Saturday evening over an illness had been found positive with Covid-19 on the same night, after a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test was performed on him.

He had then been transferred to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID), the military sources said.  Meanwhile, the victim’s spouse, an officer attached to Welisara Navy Base, who was on maternity leave, had gone back to the camp to extend her leave yesterday.

The couple’s house in Gampaha and the neighbourhood had been disinfected by the Bemmulla Public Health Officials.
