Popular actor Kavinga Perera has been arrested over a fatal accident at Wele Kade Junction in Thalangama early yesterday morning.
Police said the artiste’s car had knocked down a Road Development Authority (RDA) employee who was engaged in maintenance work on the Battaramulla-Pannipitiya Road at around 12.45 am yesterday. The victim was identified as a 42 year-old resident of Meegahathenna.
It was reported that a group of men had stopped Kavinga’s car as he was attempting to flee the scene.
The 32-year-old suspect was to be produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate. The Thalangama Police are investigating.
