The Attorney General yesterday advised the Acting IGP, Senior DIG of the CID and CID Director to efficiently complete the ongoing investigations into four high profile cases including those of the Lasantha Wickrematunga murder and Wasim Thajudeen murder cases efficiently, without further delay and send him extracts of those cases once completed.

Writing letters to them, the AG has raised his concern over the delays in proceedings of several court cases relating to serious incidents which had created much controversy and public nuisance in the country.  The four cases referred to by the Attorney General were: the murder case of former Sunday Leader Editor Lasantha Wickrematunga - Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court B 92/2009, the murder case of ruggeritte Wasim Thajudeen - Hultsdorp Magistrate’s Court B 849/12, the case into the abduction of 11 people, taking ransom and shooting them to death - Fort Magistrate’s Court B 732/ 09 and the murder case of 11 members of Muttur Action Farm NGO - Muttur Magistrate’s Court B 843/ 2006.
