103 Covid-19 cases detected following Rapid Antigen Tests at 11 exit points

Approximately 90,000 people have been ordered to follow quarantine procedures at their residences as of yesterday, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.   

 He said nine police areas including Kattankudy, Avissawella and Ruwanwella were under isolation.  


 “No inmate of the isolated areas will be allowed to leave the particular areas or no outsider will be allowed to enter those areas either. Those who disobey the orders will be dealt with quarantine law,” he said.  


 Meanwhile, a total of 103 COVID-19 cases had been detected following 13,137 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) carried out on those leaving the Western Province as of Sunday since December 18, DIG Rohana said.  


 He said 604 close contacts of the positive cases had also been sent for quarantine.  


 DIG Rohana said  that one Covid positive person was detected following 108 Rapid Antigen Tests carried out on those leaving the Western Province during the last 24 hours.    The Antigen tests on those leaving the Western Province will continue until tomorrow (January 5) .   Meanwhile, he said  three people who worked at fish stalls in Colombo District had tested positive for Covid-19 following 180 Rapid Antigen Tests carried out on Saturday.  


 The Antigen Tests on high- risk areas and on persons at public places also to be continued, he said.
