A total of 783 suspects were arrested for drunk driving in a special operation carried out islandwide from Wednesday 9.00 am (14) to Thursday 6.00 am, Police said.
They said 534 motor bikes, 43 motor cars, 180 three wheelers, 02 buses, 11 dual purpose vehicles, 10 lorries and 03 other vehicles were taken into police custody.
Meanwhile, police obtained 2,844 cases in connection with traffic offences during the operation.
Police said the operation mainly aimed at apprehending persons, who drive under the influence of alcohol.
