13th Covid-19 death reported in Sri Lanka

A 60-year-old male, who returned from Bahrain and being treated at the Chilaw General Hospital, died due to Covid-19 yesterday, reporting the thirteenth death from the virus infection in Sri Lanka, health authorities confirmed.    

Chief Epidemiologist of the Epidemiology Unit Dr. Sudath Samaraweera said the deceased, who had worked as a sailor arrived in Sri Lanka on September 02.  

 


However, he had not been diagnosed with the coronavirus upon arrival but was admitted to the Chilaw General Hospital last Wednesday (9) while in quarantine. 

 
The immediate cause of death has been identified as a heart attack.   
The deceased named W.E. Perera is a resident of Nugegoda.
