102-year-old woman in Galle dies of COVID-19

A 102-year-old woman in Galle had died of COVID-19 yesterday in her house. The PCR test during the post-mortem examination performed at Karapitiya Hospital confimed that she had died of the coronavirus disease.   

Ruhuna University’s Forensic Medicine Lecturer Dr. U.C.P. Perera said, she would have been the oldest victim of COVID-19, and that she had died after having developed the illness at home. 


City Coroner Mahesh Dharmaratne said the body would be cremated at the Public Cemetery subject to quarantine regulations.
