Priyal Silva assumes duty as DGM Corporate and Offshore Banking at BOC

Veteran banker Priyal Silva assumed duty at Bank of Ceylon (BOC) as DGM at the Corporate and Offshore Banking Division.


He succeeded the position from Senior DGM W.N.P. Surawimala, who retired from the service recently. 


BOC’s Corporate and Offshore Banking Division is a key business unit that caters to a portfolio of corporate clients with specialised requirements. The division is a composite of corporate credit, offshore banking, trade finance, project finance, corporate branch, credit support, Premier Branch, Metropolitan and Pettah Super Grade branches.  


Having joined the bank as a Management Trainee in 1997, he gathered exposure at various areas of banking, including retail banking, treasury operations, international banking and treasury operations. 


Silva rose to the position of Assistant General Manager (AGM) North Western Province, then moving on as AGM Marketing and AGM Western Province North, with which he was promoted as a Deputy General Manager (DGM). 
Prior to his new assignment as DGM Corporate and Offshore Banking, Silva’s exposure as a member of the bank’s corporate management covers sales and channel management and finance and planning. He also held the position of Chief Marketing Officer.


Silva graduated from the University of Ruhuna with Bachelor of Business Administration (Specialised in Marketing) Degree with Second Class Upper, obtained Master of Business in Accountancy from the University of Kelaniya and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration. He is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK and Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Marketing by CIM.
