People’s Bank promotes LankaQR facility in Negombo

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka launched another Lanka QR promotional programme in the Negombo area, under the patronage of CBSL Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal recently and People’s Bank also participated in this programme. 


Leading to the event, People’s Bank Gampaha region conducted several special Lanka QR promotional activities throughout the month of December, covering major cities in the Negombo area such as Kochchikade, Seeduwa, Ja-Ela, Maradagahamula, Pamunugama, Minuwangoda and Katunayake. 


This approach enabled People’s Bank to fully engage the local business community and other customers in QR facilities covering all cities of the area by the time the final event was held.


The Central Bank of Sri Lanka introduced the Lanka QR, the unique payment system, to revolutionise the payment culture in the country  by introducing a fast, secure and low-cost digital payment system islandwide.


Central Bank of Sri Lanka Deputy  Governor D. Kumaratunga, People’s Bank Deputy General Manager Banking Support Services Lalith Vithana, Chief Digital Officer Mangala Kariyawasam, Gampaha Regional Manager Nalin Pathirage, assistant regional managers, branch managers, business promotion officers of the Gampaha region and the staff of People’s Bank branches participated in this event.
