The fourth session of Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2023, conducted by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce on November 28 and 29, will explore the most effective means to achieving consensus to sustain reforms and growth.
Session 4 will delve into topics including the cost of corruption to businesses and the public, incorporation of governance reforms alongside macroeconomic reforms and strategies to enhance institutional effectiveness, productivity, independence and accountability.
The session will bring together a panel of experts to shed light on the reforms necessary to accelerate growth beyond an International Monetary Fund programme. Deloitte Partner and South Asia Delivery Excellence Leader Vishwas Udgirkar will present the session. Finance State Minister Shehan Semasinghe, MP Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, MP and Committee on Public Finance Chair Dr. Harsha De Silva and Transparency International Sri Lanka Executive Director Nadishani Perera will comprise the panel, with Verite Research Executive Director Dr. Nishan de Mel serving as the moderator.
The session will comprehensively explore the multifaceted challenges and opportunities facing Sri Lanka in the pursuit of sustained economic reforms and growth, with participants gaining valuable insights into tackling corruption, optimising governance and enhancing the effectiveness and accountability of institutions.
