More than 9,000 children flocked to Arpico Supercentres and Arpico Daily Supermarkets on a single day recently, to demonstrate their drawing skills at an art competition organised by the retail giant to celebrate the World Children’s Day.

The impressive participation in this activity resulted in the average contestants per supermarket exceeding 250, the company said. The competition took place at 17 Arpico Supercentres and 21 Arpico Daily Supermarkets. This was the second consecutive year that the Arpico chain conducted this competition.
This year’s task for contestants below 12 years of age was to draw an unforgettable moment shared with the family.

“We were overwhelmed by the response of our customers,” said Richard Peiris Distributors Ltd Head of Marketing Minodh de Sylva.

“The participating outlets were full of creative kids and their parents during the event.  We always strive to provide such experiences to our customers and their families.”

Children who showcased their talents at this competition are to be rewarded with certificates for participation and the best three are to be rewarded with gift packs. Two popular personal care brands ‘Baby Cheramy’ and ‘Little Princess’ partnered Arpico to conduct this event.
