HSBC opened its flagship branch in Jaffna today becoming the first foreign bank to open its operation in the north.
According to reports, HSBC is looking at opening branches in strategic locations in the North and East as business is about to rise exponentially with the restoration of peace in those areas, its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Sri Lanka and Maldives Nick A Nicolaou said.
He further said that by opening a branch in Jaffna, a lot of money would come in from expatriate Sri Lankan Tamils.
